How many back-ups? How many versions of ourselves across space and time? In how many drawers, boxes, hard-drives and clouds can we exist? Our plea for immortality becomes a practice. It’s called archiving.
Archive Me Please is a project that aims to highlight the symbiotic relationship of physical and digital archiving. Using 3D scanning as the interpreter between the language of matter and electrons, it sets out to immortalise its contents by exporting them in a timeline of media across the digital and physical realms.
Will electrons save our collective memories from the natural deterioration of physical archives? Or will books and tactile objects, defying the prophecies of El Lissitzky and Marshall McLuhan, be our only back-up when technology fails us?
